As the governing student body of Illinois Institute of Technology, SGA’s role is to act as a liaison between the university’s administration and its student body, and to serve as a forum to express student opinion. SGA provides opportunities for students to interact with members of the administration and formulate policy that impacts the university in the long term. SGA represents students and their opinions to improve academic and student life at Illinois Tech.

The StaffAC is comprised of staff, nominated and selected by the university staff. It is the only staff assembly recognized by the university administration as officially representing the views of staff employees. It serves as an important function of communication between the staff and the university’s administration. The StaffAC’s primary liaison is be the university president.

The University Faculty Council consists of 25 members from all across the University. The Council includes several committees, which deal with issues including academic freedom, the creation and support of new academic programs, library affairs, and other aspects of the university.
