IIT's Commitment to Diversity states that "Illinois Institute of Technology is a community that values and respects its members. We appreciate that our faculty, staff, students, alumni/ae and trustees come from many backgrounds and many parts of the world. We embrace the contributions that differences offer. We are committed to providing a working and learning environment in which all students and all members of the faculty and staff are able to realize their full potential." A brief description of the diversity office:
Serving as the primary office for students' personal and professional development, the Student Center for Diversity and Inclusion (SCDI) is an ally for domestic students of color, women, LGBT, and other diverse populations. We provide a variety of programs and services that address culture, history, policy, values, and belief systems. Through these programs we promote and celebrate diversity and equality.
