A brief description of the program:
Although IIT does not offer incentives for not parking on campus, we do not offer free parking. IIT encourages public transportation by charging all students a mandatory fee for an Unlimited Rides Pass (Upass) on the Chicago public transit system. Therefore, students who decide to drive are charged both the Upass fee as well as additional parking pass fees. For students parking directly on campus at current rates, a student pay over $400 extra per academic year (excluding gas and maintenance costs of the student's vehicle) to drive, encouraging the use of public transportation.
