A brief description of the institution’s program(s) to encourage faculty research in sustainability:
In 2010, WISER established the Interdisciplinary Seed Funding Grants (ISFG) program to cultivate broad-based university interdisciplinary research initiatives that demonstrate significant potential to attract major funding in the areas of energy and sustainability. Seven one-year innovative projects have been awarded since the program’s inception, each providing a graduate student stipend in support of the project.
WISER also provides matching funding in support of research proposals submitted by faculty in areas related to sustainability by offering financing for outreach/increasing public awareness components of projects.
WISER supports costs incurred by faculty who want to present papers/make presentations at conferences related to areas in energy and sustainability.
