A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):
Indoor Air Quality: Illinois Central College is committed to providing a work environment that is free of recognized hazards and to investigate complaints that may be related to poor indoor air quality (IAQ). Acceptable indoor air quality is air in which there are no know contaminants at harmful concentrations. Poor indoor air quality may be caused by vapors, dust generated in the work place, materials infiltrating from outside sources, fungal, mildew growth or problems with ventilation systems. Prevention of Indoor Air Quality Problems: IAQ issues are avoided by preventative maintenance practices and timely repairs to the HVAC systems. Water damaged areas are cleaned within certain time limits to prevent initiation of fungal growth. Faculty and staff should report to Facilities and Maintenance any possible plumbing, roof and HVAC program as they are found to prevent IAQ problems. Indoor Air Quality Problems or Concerns: Faculty and staff members who experience irritations that may be related to indoor air quality should report these to Facilities/Maintenance. The safety coordinator and the maintenance supervisor will then investigate these issues.
