A brief description of the institution’s supportive sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:
The horticulture programs has a master gardener test plot at the Land Lab. This area is used to grow fresh fruits and vegetables and other plants. The produce is then used in appetizers for special events at the Land Lab. Also, the Land Lab hosts various events throughout the year. At year once a year, a sustainability topic is discussed. The food service nutrition and menu class has guest speakers (ie chefs) come in to talk about their use of sustainable food crops in their restaurants. The class also takes field trips to the EPIC of Peoria Serving People with disabilities garden. This garden practices sustainable growing practices.

The college partners with a prison to offer a Horticulture certificate. The program consists of courses designed for the prison to meet the federal standards they set forth. There is a green house and numerous plants at the prison that the inmates work in and train at to complete the certificate.

Memoranda of Understanding with two institutions in China. They provide for student study abroad, faculty exchange and other programming as appropriate.
Shenzhen Polytechnic – Shenzhen, China
Xiamen HuaXia University – Xiamen, China – this is the agreement that supports the Chinese Language Institute on our campus and the English Language Institute on the HuaXia Campus
