State Universities Retirement System (SURS) Participation is mandatory the beginning date of employment. Contributions are deducted from the employee's earnings for retirement purposes. •Full-time employees = 8.5% which includes .5% to fund Community College Health insurance •Part-time employees = 8% SURS new employees now have 6 months to make their Optional retirement plan choice.
