A brief description of the institution's stormwater management initiatives:
The college is committed to designing and constructing LEED accredited buildings meeting stringent standards for managing stormwater runoff. The most recent major construction projects at the college are the CougarPlex and Hickory facilities. Historically, the college has met the requirements and regulations of Illinois Dept. of Health and Environmental Resources as applied to all college construction projects. The college maintains a retention pond. Stone swale, Bio Swales and other storm water draining fixtures to regulate and manage stormwater.

The living roof was installed in 2011 on the CougarPlex building. The roof covers 12,114 sqf or 17% of the 73,690 sqf building.

The College installed a 3,654 sqf of porous paving in the new parking lot adjacent to the CougarPlex. This asphalt pavement allow its surface rain water to penetrate the surface and saturate into the soil below.

A retention pond is located on the East Peoria campus to capture excessive amounts of storm water from parking lot storm water runoff.
