IESE has a "GUIDE-Procedure for Sustainable Procurement" that defines IESE's values/criteria for supplier selection. This guide aims to support sustainable purchasing by guiding IESE's "Purchase Hubs" in this process.

Chemically intensive products and services

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating chemically intensive products and services?:

Cleaning and personal hygiene products: Products shall be purchased that have at least one of the following certifications: EU Ecolabel, ECOLOGO, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), Green Seal Certified, U.S. EPA Safer Choice labeled, Nordic Swan, or equivalent.


Consumable office products

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating consumable office products?:

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for consumable office products:

- Office paper: Products certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and containing not less than 30% post-consumer recycled material shall be purchased. - Lighting sources- Light bulbs and lamps: Products with ecological and/or energy certifications will be purchased. When replacement is necessary, priority will be given to replacing lamps with others that provide the same illumination (lumen) but with less power (w). In the case of campuses located in the European Union (Barcelona, Madrid and Munich), products compliant with the EU/2017/1369 Regulation and with energy labels as close to the letter "A" as possible will be purchased. LED lamps will be prioritized over halogen or energy-saving lamps.


Furniture and furnishings

Office furniture: Priority will be given to the acquisition of furniture with eco-certifications. The main eco-labels issued by official bodies that certify office furniture are Blue Angel, Nordic Swan and NF-Environment.


Information Technology (IT) and equipment

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating Information technology (IT) and equipment?:

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for Information Technology (IT) and equipment:

- Computers and Laptops: IESE will purchase equipment certified, at a minimum, under the "Bronze" category according to the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT: "Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool"). In any case, IESE will prioritize the purchase of EPEAT-certified products in the following order: (1) Gold, (2) Silver, and (3) Bronze. If EPEAT-certified computers/laptops are not available in the local market at the time of purchase, equipment labeled under a single attribute standard, such as ENERGY STAR, will be purchased. - Other Electrical/Electronic Equipment: Priority will be given to the purchase of equipment with EPEAT, ECMA-370, Energy STAR or equivalent certifications.


Food service providers

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for food service providers:

Food and beverages: IESE will incorporate local, organic, fair trade and/or ethically sourced products in its purchases. In the latter case, there are certifications that guarantee compliance with this objective: "Certified Sustainably Grown (SCS)"; "Food Alliance Certified (USA)"; "Marine Stewardship Council blue ecolabel", "WWF/Good Fish Foundation"; "Ecocert Fair Trade (EFT)"; among others. The procurement of locally sourced products/services aims to reduce the environmental costs and emissions associated with transporting and shipping goods to the organization. IESE will also incorporate vegetarian and vegan alternatives to meat and dairy.


Garments and linens 

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating garments and linens?:
Yes

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for garments and linens:

Textile products: Priority will be given to the purchase of textile products with any of the following certifications: European Union Ecolabel, Nordic Swan Ecolabel (Nordic Ecolabel), Oeko-tex Mark, "Made in Green" certification or equivalent.


Professional service providers

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating professional service providers?:
Yes

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for professional service providers:

- Corporate Travel: IESE will prioritize the purchase of business travel services from suppliers that contribute to the improvement of the Travel Policy and guidelines to optimize employee mobility. - Maintenance and Gardening Services: IESE will prioritize suppliers that are certified under Occupational Health and Safety management standards (Example: ISO 45.001) and under Environmental standards (Example: ISO 14.001). IESE will also request the use of native plant species.


Transportation and fuels

Does the institution have published sustainability criteria to be applied when evaluating transportation and fuels?:

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for transportation and fuels:

Vehicles: The acquisition of "clean fuel" vehicles will be prioritized over conventional fossil fuel vehicles. In the case of Spain, the acquisition of vehicles will be prioritized according to the following hierarchy: I. Blue Environmental Label 0: This category includes battery electric vehicles, extended range electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids with a minimum range of 40 km in all-electric mode and fuel cell (hydrogen) vehicles. II. ECO environmental label: Plug-in hybrid vehicles with a range of less than 40 km in all-electric mode, non-plug-in hybrids, natural gas, compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles, light L vehicles. III. Environmental label C Green: This category includes: a. M1 and N1 vehicles (passenger cars and vans) classified as: - EURO 4, 5 or 6 gasoline engine vehicles. - Vehicles with EURO 6 diesel engine b. M2, M3, N2 and N3 vehicles (trucks, coaches, buses) classified as: - Gasoline EURO VI - Diesel EURO VI IV. Environmental label B Yellow: a. M1 and N1 vehicles (passenger cars and vans) classified as: - EURO 3 gasoline engine - Diesel EURO 4 or 5 b. M2, M3, N2 and N3 vehicles (trucks, coaches, buses) classified as: - EURO IV or V gasoline - EURO IV or V diesel
