Name of the institution’s featured sustainability program, initiative, or accomplishment:
New Support and resourcing for faculty professional development on sustainability

A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:
As reported in AC 7 Incentives for Developing Courses, our campus has undertaken significant work in the previous three years to fund and resources faculty professional development on topics of sustainability. We are proud to say that we went from having little to nothing offered in this way in prior STARS cycles to offering at least one opportunity, book circle, or learning community during each semester since 2020. We believe this has assisted us in making strides toward integrating sustainbility into more classes, broadening the reach of sustainability across new and multi-disciplinary partnerships, and has brought sustainability even more significantly into the brand identity of what it means to hold a Cal Poly Humboldt degree.

For the first time, the campus undertook the goal of documenting grounds management practices in a comprehensive document and quantified the area of campus to which inorganic chemicals are applied. This was an enormous undertaking that establishes a baseline for practice, such that we can begin formulating Integrated Pest Management policies and plans in the next three years.

In addition, we were able to document student research projects and class efforts to document areas where endangered species are located, such that in the future we can begin planning to better protect them.
