Creation of new tenure-track faculty Sustainability Librarian position

As efforts continue at Cal Poly Humboldt to truly connect polytechnic work to student academics/research the University added an explicit faculty position to support campus development on sustainability. The Sustainability Librarian is a new faculty position positioned to work as an interdisciplinary, information literacy focused support on campus, reaching all realms - from facilities, to faculty committees, to direct student outreach and community collaboration.

Measurable aspects:

Internal Library leadership as main faculty member to research topics of Sustainability Librarianship, design of sustainable library operations, systems, etc. as Cal Poly efforts move forward and overall campus sustainability is increased, assessed.

Development of student/faculty resources to support sustainability academics and research. Facilitation of campus outreach, training, and access to deepen literacy of sustainability topics at all levels. Supporting research in ways that increase its breadth and frequency from our university.

Instruction in and out of the classroom to reinforce implementation of sustainability across the curriculum. Supporting ILO (institutional learning outcome) achievements, understanding and artifacts.

Committee work on and off campus to develop projects that touch on campus sustainability as it relates to physical campus sustainability planning and interpretive systems that will serve the polytechnic needs of the future.

Leading efforts to reduce the cost of materials for students with the Sustainable Learning OER/AL$ and Course Reserves programs, including - OER/AL$ adoption training, 1-1 support in finding materials, and consulting on open pedagogy projects.
