Sustainability Faculty Fellow
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Provost’s Office announced a new addition to the Faculty Fellowship Program for 2021-22. The Sustainability Faculty Fellow will help in focusing Cal Poly Humboldt's efforts on preparing students to pursue social justice, promote environmental responsibility, and improve economic conditions in their workplaces and communities. The Sustainability Fellow works closely with the Office of Sustainability staff housed in Facilities Management, the Center for Teaching and Learning, Colleges, and the office of the Provost (Office of Academic Affairs) to implement and evaluate programs to support sustainability.
Measurable aspects:
- Partnering with various stakeholders including the Sustainability Office in Facilities Management and academic affairs to design and implement initiatives to promote sustainability in the classroom best practices.
- Partner with the office of the vice provost to continue work on best practices to designate sustainability-related and sustainability-focused courses in the catalog.
- Partner with the office of the vice provost to evaluate the achievement of Institutional Learning Outcome (ILO) 1: Equity and Social Justice – Humboldt graduates will be able to identify and evaluate the systems of power and privilege and identify methods for creating diverse, inclusive, and racially just and equitable communities and Institutional Learning Outcome (ILO) 2: Sustainability and Environmental
Awareness – Humboldt graduates will be able to explain how the functions of the natural world, society, and the economy depend on the resilience, sustainability, and conservation of ecological systems.
- Development of professional learning for faculty with a focus on integrating sustainability-themed content throughout the curriculum
- Attendance and participation with Cal Poly Humboldt's Advisory Committee on Sustainability
