In addition to the robust steps that the CSU system as a whole is taking to outlaw single use plastics as general policy across all 23 campuses, Humboldt State has been an early adopter an leader in banning and phasing out plastics at HSU as both policy and general practice, having banned plastic water bottles in 2011, banned plastic bags in 2014, removed most styrofoam from Dining in early 2010's, and is currently working to reduce plastics further.
