Cal Poly Humboldt was a partner participant in two award submissions over the last two years with the AASHE Sustainability Awards. The 2021 award submission was a finalist for AASHE Sustainability Awards and then recorded as a best practice case study and the 2022 award submission was a winner in the category Campus Sustainability Achievement.

They were:
2021- California State University System-wide Climate Justice and Intersectional Sustainability Speaker Series, AASHE 2021 Sustainability Award finalist under the category "Racial Equity and Sustainability Collaborations"

2017-present, Dr. Jennifer Ortega, Sustainability Faculty Fellow & Faculty member has been a Green Schools and Career-Connected Learning Strand Leader for North American Association of Environmental Education (NAAEE) Annual Conference. In this role she reviews conference submissions.

A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:

In 2021- 2022, Sustainability analyst Katie Koscielak inherited the role of facilitator for a STARS Support Group across the CSU after a colleague at another campus left her position in the CSU. In 2022, Koscielak worked closely with Chancellor's Office Sustainability Manager Tamara Wallace to reimagine the scope and function of the group.

Yes

A brief description of the peer review activities:

Cal Poly Humboldt will complete an external review of the CSU Channel Islands STARS report in February 2023 prior to their submission, checking for consistency/accuracy and providing detailed feedback. Our campus will receive this service in March 2023, having Channel Islands sustainability staff review this current draft of our STARS report prior to submission. This activity allows both campuses to review detailed program information and gather new ideas, as well as observe and learn best practices for sustainability report writing via peer review.
