Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Off Campus Housing Coordinator
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
The Off-Campus Housing Coordinator is a key member of the Housing and Residence Life staff with responsibilities in three general areas including: (1) helping current students transition from the on-campus to off-campus housing market, (2) working with students and community members to develop connections and advocate for the housing needs of students, and (3) work with property managers and landlords to create greater access to housing for students. This position reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life.
Furthermore, this role is leading an innovative new housing education program designed to ease housing barriers for students and build a stronger connection between Humboldt County landlords and student tenants. This activity has led the current coordinator, Chante Catt, to partner with the Office of Sustainability to produce short videos that will be used to teach both landlords and tenants about proper waste protocols, among other property best practices that may be considered synergies with sustainability concepts.
