Does the institution advocate for public policies that support campus sustainability or that otherwise advance sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level?:
Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level:

Humber is involved in demonstrating to the Ontario Government that colleges are centres of net-zero emission buildings, technology and research. This leadership reduces sector's total carbon footprint province wide and training graduates ready for new careers in the clean economy. When meeting with all three levels of government, Humber College points to the current construction of the Humber Cultural Hub as a shining example of the possibilities and scalable potential of net-zero builds in Ontario.

Does the institution advocate for public policies that support campus sustainability or that otherwise advance sustainability at the national level?:
Yes

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level:

In collaboration with Natural Resources Canada and the Government of Canada, Humber College represented in a virtual roundtable discussion about the role Colleges and Institutes could play in the proposed just transition legislation and Employment and Social Development Canada’s (ESDC) Clean Jobs Training Centre Initiative. This discussion focused on the development of the workforce industry to meet the sustainability goals and help workers and communities thrive in a net-zero carbon economy across Canada. An example that we shared during this roundtable discussion includes Humber’s first net-zero building at North Campus and how Humber offered to train individuals in the trades industry to advance sustainable solutions in construction. This was a notable example in illustrating the role that Colleges can play that would inform the Government of Canada’s decision-making related to climate change action. More information abut the “Just Transition” initiative can be found here: Just Transition | Natural Resources Canada (rncanengagenrcan.ca)
