Humber’s informal health and safety program has many of the key components associated with a formal OHSMS, including leadership and commitment, workplace inspections, incident investigations, hazard identification, hazard control, employee training, safe work procedures, and joint health and safety committees.

A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :
Humber has an employee incident reporting system which requires managers to complete and submit a Health and Safety Incident Report whenever there has been a work-related incident. Each report is reviewed and tracked by Health and Safety Services, who work with the respective faculties or departments to ensure that the hazards are addressed and appropriate corrective measures are taken to avoid similar incidents from occurring again. Incidents involving employees who have sought medical care or have lost time from work due to the incident are tracked, and the information used to calculate recordable incidents of work-related injuries or illnesses. The information submitted is for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
