The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity provides programs and services that recognizes the intersectionality and interlocking of socially constructed identities. All Centre initiatives integrate a holistic framework that extend beyond binaries and addresses the simultaneity of the individual’s experiences. This intersectional and integrative approach grounded in a practice of care, is woven throughout the Centre’s programs and services.

What We Do:
The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity ensures that equity, diversity and inclusion are instilled throughout Humber.

- Ensure Legislative Compliance
- Strategic Communication and Relationship Building
- Ensure Timely Complaints Resolution
- Co-lead Humber’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committees

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee
The Humber Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee promotes leadership, innovation, collaboration and information sharing on all matters relating to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and the Employment Equity program within the college. The EDI Committee provides assistance to members of the College community in their roles as effective change agents, strategic planners and leadership developers.


AODA Committee
The AODA Committee is an advisory committee reporting to the Director of Human Rights, Equity & Diversity who reports to the Vice-President, Human Resources. The Committee works in collaboration with Humber College with respect to issues relating to enabling compliance with AODA (2005) and promoting full accessibility and inclusion for the Humber Community.

A brief description of the institution’s cultural competence, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and/or social inclusion trainings and activities:
Humber's Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Diversity coordinates ongoing mandatory training for all faculty and staff on the Ontario Human Rights Code as well as Humber’s Human Rights Policy.
The Centre provides Human Rights, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion training, and harassment/discrimination prevention education through workshops, library exhibits, and educational resources. The Centre also coordinates a speaker series with notable presenters on human rights, equity and inclusion topics. In addition, the Centre provides group and one-to-one customized support and resources on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
The goal of Humber's human rights training: Provide preventative education and training opportunities to mitigate the risks associated with human rights violations and to foster an equitable and inclusive environment throughout the College’s learning, living and working environments.
