Humber’s Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC) was established under the direction of the Senior Vice-President, Planning and Corporate Services & CFO and Senior Vice-President Academic in the Summer 2016. The first committee for Sustainability at Humber began in 2008.

The SSC is a cross-institutional advisory body to the President and Executive Team that provides integrated, collaborative, evidence-based advice to ensure Humber’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in planning and decision-making across the college. It is responsible for providing advice and direction related to the execution of Humber’s Sustainability Plan.

SSC membership will be comprised of representatives from the following major operating units (academic and non-academic), with the intent of ensuring a broad representation of key institutional functions. Membership composition will be reviewed annually, with the terms ending on June 30th of each year

A brief description of each sustainability office:

Humber's Office of Sustainability leads the college's sustainability initiatives and is a hub for campus engagement and information. We support the college community to integrate sustainability into everything we do. Sustainability at Humber encompasses Social justice, Ecological Preservation and Economic Viability, or "People, Planet, Profit" and the UN World Commission on Environment and Development’s definition of Sustainability (1987): “Meeting contemporary needs without compromising the ability of future generations to satisfy their needs.”

Humber's Office of Sustainability activities include:
- Support the organization to integrate sustainability into all that we do
- Collaborate and engage with various stakeholders to implement sustainability projects, initiatives, events, course projects, etc.
- Track and publish successes using defined metrics

There are three full time staff and 2-3 part-time students who are employed in the Office of Sustainability.

In 2014, the Office of Sustainability developed Humber's first five year Sustainability Plan which outlined clear targets and action items in 11 specific sustainability areas. The Office of Sustainability has accomplished many things in the previous years. These are outlined in our most recent 2014-2015 Sustainability Report.
There is also a Campus wide Sustainability Steering Committee (SSC) mentioned above.
