A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

In 2015, Humber developed an Integrated Energy Master Plan (IEMP) looking forward to 2034, with the goal to reduce Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 30%

Humber is several years into the implementation of the IEMP. Several projects to reduce GHG emissions have been completed, which includes the broad categories:

-Building Envelope retrofits to increase wall, roof and glazing thermal performance
-Retro commissioning
-Incorporating Heat Recovery Ventilation into HVAC systems

There is a significant difference between baseline and performance years for Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported electricity due to the electricity grid in Ontario. Since the baseline year there has been a roughly 6x improvement of cleaner energy in Ontario. Additionally the community and culture at Humber has been overall more efficient with an increased awareness of reducing electricity consumption.
