A brief description of the sustainability trainings and professional development opportunities available to staff :
Professional development opportunities are made available throughout the year, and also in once-a-semester day-long gatherings. Staff are generally afforded a professional development session on at least one topic. The most recent session was:
Sustainability 101: An introduction to the basic principles of sustainability and how to apply them in your professional and personal decision-making at work and home. Practical tips that you can use to become a better steward of the environment while saving money and helping build a brighter tomorrow for society. Attendees will better understand HCC’s commitment to sustainability, our new involvement as KCTCS’ only school in the Sustainability Tracking System, and its newest member of the American Association of Sustainability in Higher Education.
Past sessions have focused on intergenerational learning, conflict resolution, customer service skills, and stress management.
