A brief description of the themed semester, year, or first-year experience:
Our institutional QEP (Quality Enhancement Program) is designed to increase literacy, and particularly college-level reading. One aspect of the program is that faculty and staff participate in a three-book challenge, choosing from a fairly-comprehensive list, many of which relate to sustainability topics.
The three books that we are reading this semester (Spring 2013) deal with questions of social justice and medical ethics. The titles are:
Rebecca Skloot - The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
Dave Eggers - Zeitoun
Dennis Johnson - Train Dreams
