A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
Worked with the Office of the Provost for Academic Affairs to identify faculty and staff currently involved in such research. We utilized our "Faculty Activity Reporting" (FAR) Program to compile our list.
https://hope.edu/offices/provost/faculty-development/faculty-activity-reporting/index.html
Starting in 2019 faculty started uploading information into our Faculty Activity Reporting System (FAR) in regards to research, scholarship, awards, committee work (campus and community), professional development, etc… The table below lists all faculty members of Hope College during the period listed up above and the following categories which relate to sustainability. We reviewed the list (self disclosure and self categorization) and highlighted projects that appeared to fall into the categories associated with sustainability. It is important to note that faculty do not have to have all information entered until March 15 so there are likely projects missing from this list.
The table below lists all faculty members of Hope College during the period listed up above and the following categories which relate to sustainability. We reviewed the list (self-disclosure and self-categorization) and highlighted projects that appeared to fall into the large category of the triple bottom line of sustainability. It is important to note that faculty do not have to have all information entered until March 15 so there are likely projects missing from this list.

Stewardship of Resources
Sustainability
The total number of academic departments that include at least one employee who conducts research/sholarship is 24.
And the number of academic departments that include at least one employee who conducts sustainability research/scholarship is 22.
So 100% of our departments have at least one person doing some sort of sustainability research and scholarship.
Until now we did not know that, but FAR has helped us gather this more accurately.
