We believe the Christian faith calls us to care for all of God’s creation and ensure preservation for generations to come. We realize it is through our daily actions that we can make a big impact and create a better world for every individual, as one created and loved by God. Called to be global citizens, we will engage the world constructively through our teaching, research, and community service in order to shape Hope College into a model of sustainability and be a force for good in the world.

A brief description of each sustainability office:
The Office of Sustainability coordinates strategic planning, implementation, analysis, and communication of campus sustainability initiatives by working with faculty, staff, students, and alumni. This office leads and fosters a campus culture that embraces sustainable initiatives, policies, actions, and attitudes in the context of the historic Christian faith.
The Director also oversees the work of the HAS student interns

The Hope College Sustainability Advisory Group (Green Team) 2019-2020 goals:
-Formulate recommendations to Student Congress, the President, and the Board of Trustees regarding sustainability initiatives on campus.
-Continue to develop effective waste, recycling, purchasing, and travel practices and educate all members of the community about them, e.g., new recycling containers, green purchasing, carbon offsets.
-Continue to expand the reach of sustainability education in the academic program, e.g., by increasing the number of courses that have sustainability as a theme or unit.
-Explore ways in which the College can encourage non-motorized travel on campus, e.g., bicycles, longboards.
-Work with the City of Holland, Holland BPW, and the ODCMG to revive the Holland/Hope College Sustainability Institute.
-Focus on the Three R’s: “Reduce, Refill, Rethink.”
-Develop sound metrics for use in setting goals.
-Explore more options for socially and environmentally responsible retirement investments for faculty and staff.
Since 2014 Hope College has also partnered with the City of Holland and Holland Board of Public Works to create the Holland-Hope College Sustainability Institute (HHCSI). Hope College's Directer for the Office of Sustainability is also the Director for the HHCSI.
