A brief description of the green building rating system(s) used and/or a list of certified buildings and ratings:
The Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts at Hope College has earned LEED Silver certification in February 2017. This building is approximately 67,000 square feet.
Although the center is the first at Hope to earn LEED certification, it likely won’t be the only one for long. The college will also seek certification for the Jim and Martie Bultman Student Center, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in the fall 2017. This building will be a 42,000-square-foot facility.
In November of 2015, a Hope College approved third-party assessor evaluated many college-owned cottages. The cottage assessment process included the collection of data related to the physical structure, heating system, cooling system, and hot water system in each cottage. From these data, a Home Energy Score was generated for each cottage. The Home Energy Score is a national rating developed by the U.S. Department of Energy. In addition to this score, researchers were provided with data related to square footage, energy usage, water usage, occupancy levels, and year of construction of many cottages.
