A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives, including efforts made during the previous three years:
In 2015 our local utility, Holland Board of Public Works (HBPW), began adding renewable energy for a portion of its electric supply. The HBPW is nearing completion of construction for a new 114 Megawatt Natural Gas Power Plant (http://p21decision.com/). In April of 2015 ground was broken on the site and construction began. The last of the coal was used at the current coal fired plant in spring of 2016 and the plant will come online in late spring of 2017 with a ribbon cutting ceremony to take place in the summer.
