Has the institution conducted a survey or other evaluation that allows for anonymous feedback to measure employee satisfaction and engagement during the previous three years?:
No

Percentage of employees assessed, directly or by representative sample:
100

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
In 2015, a survey aimed at collecting feedback on and evaluating the HWS community satisfaction, engagement, and culture was distributed to all HWS students, faculty and staff. Employee responses were received from 100 staff members and 84 faculty, representing a 26% employee response rate. The response was considered a representative sample based on a 95% confidence interval and the 184 respondents, yielding a margin of error (confidence interval) of approximately 6% (deemed an acceptable level of precision for the purposes of the assessment).

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
The survey was used to inform the Culture of Respect Committee’s work, which culminated in a report of recommendations that was presented to Past President Gearan by co-chairs Pat McGuire and Mara O’Laughlin. Several recommendations resulted in action. For example, after the recommendations, a formal review of the Hobart Fraternity system was initiated, as well as the Kaleidoscope Orientation Program. Additionally, the Office of Inclusion and Diversity was formally established after the Culture of Respect completed their recommendations. Currently, the Culture of Respect report is one of the supporting documents being used in the institution’s latest strategic planning initiative, alongside of the Middle States report and the Curriculum Review.
