Total percentage of students (graduate and undergraduate) that use more sustainable commuting options as their primary means of transportation:
89.80

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting, including the timeframe for when the analysis was conducted and how a representative sample was reached, if applicable:

The Office of Sustainability conducted a student transportation/commuting survey in fall 2015. The Colleges are a residential campus, where the majority of students live in on-campus housing in a walkable, bikable community. Those students living in on-campus housing use alternative modes of transportation for their primary means of transportation around campus. In fall 2016 and spring 2017, approximately 83.5% (n=1,890) of students lived on campus. Only 16.5% (n=374) of students lived off-campus in fall 2016 and spring 2017. Using the data from 2015 we as a representative sample, it is estimated that 47% of all off-campus students used some form of alternative transportation. Furthermore, we assumed all 83.5% of students living on campus walk, bicycle, or use other non-motorized means as their primary transportation.

The percentage of students that use each of the following modes as their primary means of transportation to get to and from campus::
Percentage (0-100)
Commute with only the driver in the vehicle (excluding motorcycles and scooters) 10.20
Walk, bicycle, or use other non-motorized means 89.80
Vanpool or carpool 0
Take a campus shuttle or public transportation 0
Use a motorcycle, scooter or moped 0
