A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :
HCT has an EHSMS management system that includes incident notification and investigation procedures. The procedure identifies the recordable injuries/ illness as Death or cases of occupational injuries or illnesses that result in days away from work, days of restricted work, loss of consciousness, temporary or permanent job transfer, termination of an injured employee for medical treatment beyond first aid.
All incidents, including near misses, are notified to the EHS in charge using the Incident notification form. And then the EHS in charge starts the investigation (if necessary with a team) to identify the appropriate root cause and corrective action to prevent its re-occurrence. The incidents are uploaded to a system for the review of the top management and according to the case, HCT submits it to the regulatory authority within the recommended time frame.
Calculation
Points earned = 1.5 × { [ 0.04 - ( A / ( B + C ) ) ] / 0.04 }
= 1.5 × { [ 0.04 - ( 2 / ( 24959 + 721 ) ) ] / 0.04 } = 1.497037
(A) HCT recordable incidents in 2021= 2
(B) Number of staff and students in HCT in 2021 = 24959
(C) Number of contractors in HCT in 2021 = 721
