The Committee shall be responsible for the following:
1. Developing a sustainability awareness culture within the HCT Community.
2. Monitoring of the implementation of the sustainability activities, initiatives, and progress system-wide.
3. Supporting departments with the allocation of budgets for respective sustainability projects.
4. Increase awareness and delivery of environmental and sustainable education across curriculums, campuses, and outreach programs.
5. Support the Sustainability and CSR specialized team in achieving the following:
* Oversee sustainability-related matters at the HCT Campuses.
* Mobilize more resources for action-oriented climate change research and skills creation.
* Increase the delivery of environmental and sustainability education across curriculum, campus, and community outreach programs.
* Embed sustainability into the culture and traditions of the HCT community.
* Continuously initiate projects and practices that integrate sustainability into College life and activities.
* Continuously measure the sustainability performance of the College.
* Monitor the implementation of the sustainability 2030 Carbon Neutral plan on campuses.
* Review and continuously improve solutions toward sustainability.
* Be the hub for sustainability-related information and activities.
* Publish annual reports about the achievements of Higher Colleges of Technology towards sustainability and carbon Emissions.
* Spread public awareness regarding sustainability issues in the HCT Community.

In 2022, The HCT system-wide coordinating body has worked closely with the Strategic Department to achieve the QS STARS 5-star Rating in regards to the Environmental Impact category.
In addition, the Coordinating Body has also participated in the 2022 Arab Green Summit, and HCT has won the 2022 DACA award as the "Champion of Universities and Campuses Climate Action."
