Since 2009 HCC has collaborated with campuses in the Northeast Higher Education District (NHED) in holding NHED Sustainability Conferences. These conferences allow each of five campuses in the District to highlight their sustainability initiatives. Students are an integral part of these conferences. The next conference will be at Vermilion Community College during the 2014-2015 academic year.

A brief summary of additional ways the institution collaborates with other campuses to advance sustainability :

Hibbing Community College was instrumental in moving a grant opportunity to fruition which involved all five campuses of NHED. This grant secured $4000 for each of the five campuses to lower their carbon footprint. Campus projects included: HCC-bike loan program, car pool signage, food service and composting, recycling and waste diversion, LED lighting.
