The office of sustainable development is responsible for coordinating the various efforts, projects, groups and committees related to SD in the school. The core sustainability committee is made of 4 members; the secretary general who is also a board member, the director of infrastructure who is in charge of all “physical” aspect of our campus (security, project, building management), an officer who develop and implement the SD strategy and projects with other directions and groups, and a coordinator who coordinate activities and relation with students’ associations.
Other committees working exclusively on SD topics include;
• ASHOKA change leaders are looking over projects and activities related to the social impact.
• A committee is in charge to design a sustainability theme project for the opening of a new building in downtown Montréal (opening planned around 2022).
• A committee is in charge of developing a new sustainability, social responsibility and ethic strategy for improving the integration of this subject in curriculum, research and activities.
The office of SD is also actively collaboration with many committees across the school now include goals related to sustainability. For example, one committee is analyzing IT projects that could reduce paper consumption. Another one is in charge of the management of a wellbeing room and ensure local community as access to this room to promote health and wellbeing within the neighbourhood.

A brief description of each sustainability office:
The “Direction du Développement durable” (Office of sustainable development) ensures institutional actions are coherent and efficient with HEC Montréal’s sustainability strategy. The Office director is also the School’s Secretary General, who is an active member of the school board and director board and ensuring a strong integration of SD in all of our decisions.
The Office is in charge of implementing and managing the Sustainability Policy and the Sustainable Development Action Plan in collaboration with the School's management team.

A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
The campus has two main buildings, and HEC Montréal is a medium-size school. These factors facilitate the communication and collaboration between the SD office with other directions and offices. The sustainability office is linked to both, the Secretary general office and the Infrastructure office, and has strong links with the Pôle Ideos (social innovation). This organizational structure and functional linkages facilitate ccoordination with different departments that have resources, power and influence to advance sustainability in both,academic and operational areas. There is a strong collaboration between all these actors, and the SD office staff benefits from a strong support across the School's Departments to implement the SD strategy.

The Sustainable Development Officer, Jean-Michel Champagne, is responsible for developing and implementing the SD Action Plan. He supports directors, managers, faculties and staff in initiating, implementing and improving SD initiatives and projects from a multi-department and multidisciplinary perspective. He also creates benchmarks to evaluate the school’s performance and tracks projects related to SD.

She is also in charge of managing the “Hectare Urbain Project”, organizing SD career events, managing the SD Initiative Fund and coordinating student association initiatives.
