The 2018-2020 Sustainable Development Action Plan (Plan d'action en développement durable 2018-2020) has three targets that include measurable sustainability objectives that address Curriculum.

Target 1 – Universal learning objectives in sustainable development
Deliverable : Ensure that all regular programs include sustainable development learning objectives (are excluded: École des dirigeants and continuous education).
2020 target: undergraduate main program (BAA) and graduate main program (M.Sc) shall include official SD learning objective by 2020, representing 32% of our annual graduates.

Target 2 – Evaluate HEC’s community knowledge and culture in sustainable development.
Deliverable: Evaluate, using an annual survey, HEC’s community knowledge and culture in sustainable development, including student, staff and administrators, to identify our strengths, weakness, opportunities and trends. Evaluation, through survey, must be used to assess the various sustainable development initiatives impact and visibility on the community, and shared with the community in an annual report.
2020 target: having a comprehensive annual assessment implemented at the university level and reaches to all of HEC students, faculties and staff. No quantitative target.

Target 3 – Initiative and support programs for the creation of classes on sustainability
Deliverable : Develop an incentive program for teachers who want to create classes specifically on sustainability.
2020 target: Create at least one course specifically on sustainability by 2020.

The 2018-2020 Sustainable Development Action Plan (Plan d'action en développement durable 2018-2020) has three targets that include measurable sustainability objectives that address Campus Engagement.

Target 4 – Institutional Peer-to-peer program in sustainability for the students.
Deliverable: Create a peer-to-peer program in sustainability for the students that will be supported by the school and will be complementary to existing activities offered by student associations and Sustainable development office. The peer-to-peer program will be used mainly to support the school in the promotion of its sustainability linked activities during the integration activities at the beginning of each term, and during theme specific activities through the year. Peer-to-peer program should reach the entire HEC's student community.
2020 target: Implement a SD student team that will be active during the August/September and January integration weeks and during mid-terms SD themed week, and that reaches to the three main student cluster representing ~90% of all students (undergraduate student (Bachelor degree), certificate student (Minor degree) and graduate student (M.Sc., DESS, Micro-program).

Target 5 – Institutional Peer-to-peer program in sustainability for the school staff.
Create and manage a peer-to-peer program in sustainability for school staff, using dedicated people who want to act as ambassadors to promote activities, events and initiatives in sustainability across the different school department and organizations
2020 target: Designate at least one SD Ambassador in each of the School’s operation departments (12).

Target 6 – Professional training program in sustainability
Deliverable: Using already existing training programs that were developed for school staff, develop a training program to offer workshop, lectures and conferences on sustainability for university professional.
2020 target: Delivering a sustainability themed training to 25% of actual staff and 100% of new staff during a 3 years period.

Deliverable: Using the data provided by the annual survey (target 2), track and report HEC’s community engagement to encourage and promote community engagement at all level (student, staff, faculty) and assess their collective impact.
2020 target: Produce a yearly indicator of the number of faculties, employees and students who engaged in volunteering activities, sorted by type (internal, external, international) and by impact (number of hours).

Deliverable: implement a sustainable dining strategy in collaboration with the food caterer (COOP HEC Montréal), implement a steering committee, improve and promote the best practices already implemented (certified ingredients, daily vegetarian menu, waste reduction, local food).

2020 Targets: Renew the LEAF certification, obtain a Fair Trade campus certification, and integrate the COOP HEC Montréal sustainable achievement in the HEC Montréal Annual Sustainable Development Report by 2019.

Target 11 – Sustainable procurement program
Deliverable: Create and implement a sustainable procurement policy that defines sustainable norms and requirements for the various purchase category, as per the STARS Guideline. Create an exchange program for unused materials, such as office supply, between school’s departments. Develop and publish performance indicators regarding purchase, such as % of EPEAT electronics purchased, green seal/eco logo janitorial supply, FSC/recycled paper purchase, water treatment chemical reduction, WHMIS labelled product reduction, etc.
2020 Target: Produce and publish a sustainable procurement indicators report covering the main procurement activities (electronic goods, janitorial products, paper, electric supply, chemical supply, office supply).

Deliverable: Using the data generated by the sustainability survey (target 2), assess the transportation habits of the various HEC’s community group. Develop a Sustainable Mobility Strategy including action priorities to support the community to use public transportation, active transportation, or as a last resort carsharing/carpooling..
2020 Target: No quantitative target is required since most HEC members use public transportation (subway and bus) – targeted action to improve commuting experience are preferred, such as carpooling network, bicycle access and services improvement, road safety event, etc…
