HEC Montréal has 6 active student groups which are focused on sustainability within the institution. Their mission and activity are built around environnemental, social and economics topics. “Hectare urbain » is a urban agriculture project including the main sustainability principles in his mission. This one it is to teach by field learning to students: food issue, biodiversity conservation and permaculture.

The institution holds events throughout the year. A wide range of choices is proposed to our community every year. From symposia about climate change to outreach campaign over composting, students, professors, office worker, guests and visitors can access of various events related to sustainability. Students can also attend the annual social innovation week, held in autumn, and the social responsible career conference, held in Novembre, for example. Last year, an association called “Humaniterre” had allowed to local ecodesigner to show their creations. Each was selected on environmental criteria contained in their business case.

Last year, the sustainability-related themes chosen was “Water”, especially the water management in the world. The world water day was chosen by the institution to set up a special event around many topics related to water across the world.
