Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
The total number of students who participated in community service was collected from HPU's Student Life and First Year programs department who oversee HPU's student organizations, cheer and dance programs, HPU's President's Host, and new student orientation and Sea Warrior Service Day. Information was also collected from HPU's athletics department who engage HPU student athletes in various community service projects. Each student organization at HPU is required to perform community service every semester, and 382 different students were engaged in community service during the 2011-2012 academic year. Out of all of HPU's sports teams, 171 student athletes engaged in community service during the 2011-2012 academic year. HPU's Spirit Club consisted of 130 students in the 2011-2012 academic year, all of whom engaged in community service. Residence Life requires all students living in on-campus housing to perform community service, and 198 students conducted an average of 3 hours of community service each, for a total of 594 hours during the 2011-2012 school year. In addition to these students, community service was performed by students in HPU's cheer and dance programs, HPU's President's Host program, and at the Sea Warrior Service Days on September 2nd, 2011 and October 13th, 2011 (total of 165 students). Total number of students includes full-time graduate and undergraduate students as of May, 2012.
