Campus CFL Lightbulb Exchange

A brief description of the campaign(s):
The HPU GREEN Club held a free light bulb exchange for HPU faculty, staff, and students giving out free CFL light bulbs in exchange for incandescent bulbs. HPU also wroked with the University of Hawaii to adopt the Kukui Cup energy competition at HPU's Hawai`i Loa Campus residence halls. Students went online at http://kukuicup.hpu.edu to view the real-time energy use of their buildings, meet daily energy reduction goals, watch videos and learn about sustainability and energy-related issues, and attend sustainability and energy-related workshops, all while earning points which are used for winning prizes.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):
Over 1,000 CFL bulbs were exchanged in the HPU community for old incandescent bulbs. During the Kukui Cup energy competition, a little over 50% of the students participated in the competition and energy reduction ranged from 2% to 20% throughout the buildings.
