Haverford college has advocated and lobbied for the implementation of a single use plastic bag ban in both Haverford Township and Lower Merion Township. Both townships now have this ban in effect.
Regional advocacy
A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level:
Haverford College signed the RGGI (regional greenhouse gas initiative) third program review business and investor letter in the fall of 2023. This letter was sent to the governors of many states including PA where Haverford resides.
National advocacy

Haverford College signed onto a letter to the EPA regarding carbon emission standards.
International advocacy

Haverford is an institutional member of the We Are Still In organization advocating for the broad adoption and implementation of the Paris Climate Accords.
