Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Climate and Environmental Data Rescue
A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:
On February 18th, Haverford organized more than 50 volunteers from the Tri-Co community and beyond gathered in Magill Library to join a nationwide effort to protect vulnerable federal climate and environmental data. This effort, coordinated by the DataRefuge Project, brings together people with a range of skills to create trustworthy copies of federal data that will be accessible for research.
Out of concern that essential scientific data around climate change and related sustainability topics would be removed from public access via government websites (EPA, NOAA, etc.) and limit scholarly engagement in these areas, troves of climate data have been saved through this project and will be made available to continue to advance critical research.
