As part of the 2017 planning process for the Sustainability Strategic Plan, the Council on Sustainability and Social Responsibility administered a survey to understand better the community's values and priorities around enacting sustainability at the College.

ACADEMICS: coursework and research opportunities that address different facets of sustainability: environmental, social, economic, political, historical, etc.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: opportunities for community members to interact with sustainability issues in their work and daily lives, e.g. through education, service, advocacy, or professional development
OPERATIONS: minimizing Haverford's direct environmental impact, e.g. carbon neutrality, waste reduction, stewardship of the campus and local ecosystems

Community members viewed sustainability largely through an operational lens (i.e. campus business), only secondarily as a curricular matter or a policy matter. This was our first administration of the instrument.
