A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
Fall of 2010, Haverford College donated all student abandoned bikes to the Devereux Foundation in Malvern.
Devereux is a non-profit organization providing services around the nation for persons with emotional, developmental & educational disabilities.
Part of their program includes a bicycle shop. The shop gives men and women with various intellectual disabilities an opportunity to learn a skill, maintain employment and earn a paycheck so that they may lead a productive, dignified life. The bike shop also provides the community a place to recycle old bikes and to purchase restored ones as well.
In March of 2011, Deveraux returned to campus to sell the refurbished bikes back to the college community.
