A brief description of the student group, including its activities:
The Environmental Clubs on the Lancaster and Gettysburg Campuses promote environmental awareness on campus and in the community by sponsoring and organizing annual campus Earth Day events, bringing speakers to campus to talk about environmental issues, and holding events such as movie nights, community cleanup and water quality testing projects, and outdoor adventures.
The Harrisburg campus Social Inquiry/Social Awareness Club promotes social awareness to environmental sustainability and the impacts humans have on the environment, which in turn impacts the quality of life. The club activities have included taking a major role in the success of the RecycleMania 2012 and have held several events on campus to increase student awareness of social issues.
The campus-wide honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, has hosted events that focus on recycling and require community service of its members that typically relate to environmental-social-economic sustainability issues.
Lastly, the nursing program students, also required to participate in community service, have also conducted community work related to sustainable and healthy living.
