Reducing hazardous waste -
Universal Waste - We are phasing out mercury containing bulbs and using the lower mercury bulbs or moving towards LED lighting whenever replacing bulbs.

A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
We bulk our laboratory waste in the hood of the chemical storage room. Once a year we have a consultant Tradebe give us a quote for disposal. We have all of our people involved with this process DOT Hazardous Waste Certified. Our Chemical Hygiene Officer oversees this process in conjunction with the EHS Director.
Universal Waste - We have a contractor come and collect all of our universal waste on campus yearly or as needed. We have yearly training for our maintenance staff on handling, disposal and replacement of different types of bulbs.

We have an E-Waste recycler (Technology Recyclers) come in twice a year and collect E-Waste.
