Gustavus has taken multiple steps to reduce hazardous waste on campus. These include:
Microscale experiments
Substitution of less hazardous products
neutralization

In order to ensure that hazardous and non-regulated chemical waste is properly disposed of Gustavus follows best waste disposal practices. This includes:
Collection
Segregation
Approved contractor
Proper shipping methods

A brief description of any inventory system employed by the institution to facilitate the reuse or redistribution of laboratory chemicals:
Gustavus uses a campus-wide inventory system to facilitate the reuse and redistribution of laboratory chemicals. This central chemical inventory includes a computerized inventory system that uses barcodes to communicate chemical information, container size, and quality.

Gustavus Technology Services centralizes campus and student generated electronic waste and recycles it through an approved vendor - PCs for People in Mankato. https://www.pcsforpeople.org/
