A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:
Yearly funding is available for projects initiated by departments, programs, campus-wide initiatives or advocacy groups that focus on enhancing sustainability and community health. Sustainability projects have included developing and enhancing a bike share program, assistance with zero-waste and renewable energy projects, and funding for the campus micro-farm, Big Hill Farm.
A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:
Priority is given to student-focused initiatives achieving the greatest impact on community well-being, broadly understood. In the past, stakeholders have included the Kitchen Cabinet (a group of Gustavus students and employees who informally advise the dining service director about how the Dining Service can continue more deeply to serve the educational mission of the college), the Coca-Cola Educational Partnership Grants program grant committee, other Gustavus staff and faculty, and partners from Coca-Cola.
