Gustavus partners with Little Big Sky Farm in Henderson, Minnesota for the opportunity to trade labor for wisdom and information concerning small scale farming. Gustavus provides paid intern work time one day a week over the summer for Little Big Sky Farm, in exchange for training and advice for students implementing campus farm projects. https://www.littlebigskymn.com/

Gustavus is currently participating in a project in partnership with Michaels Energy to provide a retro commissioning plan for several buildings, including the Campus Center, Olin Hall, Confer-Vickner Hall, and the chiller system. The plan, which was delivered in spring 2021, and will be implemented over the next 18 months, outlines strategic ways to optimize building performance, save energy, lower emissions and reduce maintenance, which will all contribute to Gustavus’ 25% energy reduction goal.

Co-Directors of the Johnson Center for Environmental Innovation have been and continue to be members of the Southcentral Minnesota Clean Energy Council. The Southcentral Minnesota Clean Energy Council (SMCEC) is a dedicated group of citizens who share a passionate interest in renewable energy and energy efficiency. The SMCEC promotes sustainability by helping the clean energy transition move forward in southern Minnesota. The SMCEC pursues opportunities to promote energy saving technologies, the renewable energy industry, and the use of clean energy in southern Minnesota. They share resources and information with local stakeholders, including citizens, businesses, governments and nonprofits by holding monthly forums on topics of interest to the community. https://www.smcleanenergy.org/
