Gustavus has both a monthly sustainability blog and biweekly Instagram posts. Both of these platforms publicize information regarding any upcoming events or sustainability initiatives. This includes but is not limited to compost updates, announcements of new sustainability interns, updates about TREX plastic collection, and end-of-semester sustainability updates.

A brief description of the signage that highlights sustainability features on campus:

There is signage throughout Gustavus’s campus featuring sustainability efforts, projects, and accomplishments. Several LEED Certified buildings have plaques indicating the certification - Beck Hall is LEED Platinum and Anderson Hall is LEED Gold. The recently renovated Nobel Hall of Science was certified as LEED Gold and is in the process of obtaining a plaque. Gustavus’ Arboretum has permanent educational signage featuring the ecosystems present, plant and animal species, and conservation information. There are several shortgrass prairie ecosystem plantings in campus malls and green areas, with signage explaining the importance of prairies and the process of developing a prairie (prairie in progress signs). There is also signage on campus indicating that Gustavus is a Bike Friendly University. Sustainability interns have partnered with Dining Services to feature sustainability facts and information using digital signage (TV’s) in the Cafeteria. Waste sorting posters are placed at waste stations in academic buildings as well as near residential hall waste areas.
