A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
We had very low response numbers (only 85 respondents)-- due primarily to the time at which the survey was given (at the end of the academic year when the community is busy with finals...). With such a small sample size, it is hard to interpret the results and use for shaping policy... In the 2009-2010 academic year, the committee was heavily involved in transitioning to its role as the Diversity Action Committee as outlined in the Diversity Plan, so the survey was not administered again. There were a few initiatives that arose, in part, out of the survey, including the introduction of boxes distributed across campus where community members could report any instances of discrimination/bias. The committee also began dialogues with various groups on campus to discuss their concerns and possible measures that could be taken to improve the campus climate.
