Title or keywords related to the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Surplus Store

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:

The idea came from the Director of Procurement Services Mr. Kim Patrick with the support of the Business and Finance Division with the implementation handled by the Procurement Services Dept. and select staff. The idea was to have the surplus store be another avenue that the Procurement Services Dept. could use to dispose of items that have reached the end of their shelf life at the university. In doing this the university could then generate some additional revenue that would be put back into the general fund.

A brief description of any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation (if not reported above):

The first surplus store sale was held on Saturday, Feb. 8th 2014 from 8am – 1pm. We raised $30,000 from that first sale (the total includes what was sold on the sale day along with some pre-sale transactions).
