Blackboard Collaborative Technology Platform

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :

This tool was used as a platform for a global virtual youth conference on water issues for high school students. The conference was held on March 23, 2013 for United National University Regional Centers of Expertise, of which GVSU is a founding member. RCEs from Grand Rapids, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and others participated in the virtual conference hosted at City Middle High School in Grand Rapids.


A brief description of any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation (if not reported above):

Meaurable outcomes include cost-savings associated with air travel, lodging, meals, etc., a website with presentations and follow-up materials remains available for use by students, reduction of GHG and CO2 emissions, and a high school student learning experience on water-related issues from different global perspectives.
