A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

The Sustainable Department Ambassadors are selected on a volunteer basis after the Sustainable Community Development Initiative meets with the departments on campus to educate them about sustainable initiatives/programs/ideas. After the faculty/staff in each department volunteer to become the Sustainable Department Ambassador(s), the Sustainable Community Development Initiative offer to meet with the sustainability leaders to talk about their thoughts on how their individual department could become more sustainable.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

Sustainable Community Development Initiative is in the process of educating all faculty and staff through educational department meetings. At the meetings, sustainable initiatives/programs/ideas are discussed. It is at this time that someone from the department volunteers to become the Sustainable Department Ambassador(s).


A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

There are financial options open to the Sustainable Department Ambassador(s) within each department. First, Sustainable Department Ambassador(s) are able to work within their own department budgets. Second, the Sustainable Community Reinvestment Fund is offered as financial support for a project/initiative that the Sustainable Department Ambassador(s) would like to start in their own department.

A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (2nd program):

The Sustainable Office Awards is a way for departments and faculty/staff to access how sustainable either the department is or the faculty/staff as individuals are. Any faculty/staff may take the Sustainable Office Awards, but one person from the department, such as the Sustainable Department Ambassador, can take the department award. For those who would like to take the survey do so on a volunteer basis.

There is no formal training employees receive to complete the survey.


A brief description of the financial or other support the institution provides to the program (2nd program):

While there is no financial support directly offered to the departments who complete the survey, if the department identifies areas the department could become more sustainable on, the Sustainable Community Development Initiative offers the Sustainable Reinvestment Fund.
